Brooklyn-based designer, Jesse Reed, collaborates with world renowned color authority, Pantone, to include Chip Slip into the suite of Pantone color management tools—adding convenience and utility for all designers.

CARLSTADT, N.J., September 18, 2017 – There is one common practice among all designers—color. The product that has set the industry standard for selecting, presenting, and monitoring consistent color production is the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM®. One of the most common ways of selecting color is using Pantone chip books and tearing out a perforated color chip. Having only a limited number of chips per color, designers struggled with a way of saving these selections for future usage— the most common solutions were often envelopes full of loose chips or taping chips to the inside of the original sheet binder—this was messy and inefficient.

Finding a solution
Taking matters into his own hands, Reed developed the Chip Slip in 2011—a thin sheet of white vinyl with 30 clear pockets organized in six rows. This product would now allow designers to tear out Pantone color chips, and when finished with their immediate use, store the loose chip into the pockets of a Chip Slip sheet. No more envelopes, no more taping—this was the ultimate solution to saving time, money, and effort on a professional necessity

Pantone collaboration
Reed has collaborated with Pantone to manufacture a new run of the product called the Pantone Paper Chip Saver, and include 1–2 sheets into each book of the following color specification tools: FHI Color Specifier & Guide Set, Solid Chips, Solid Color Set, Pastel & Neon Chips, Metallic Chips, Premium Metallic Chips, and Reference Library.

The sheets will be distributed in books starting mid-September 2017, and additional packs of 10 replacement sheets will be sold exclusively through chipslip.com.
